Deer Run Elementary PE Teacher Honored With Official Proclamation
During the school's year-end Field Day, Jennifer Black was recognized for her "remarkable spirit & dedication to the Kids Heart Challenge."

EAST HAVEN, CT —At Deer Run Elementary School's annual end-of-the-year field day, it was fun and games, and, an honor for physical education teacher Jennifer Black.
State legislators Sen. Paul Cicarella, Rep. Joe Zullo and Rep. Roland J. Lemar, recognized Black with a proclamation. Also attending the days' event was East Haven Mayor Joseph A. Carfora.
It reads, the honor is in recognition of her "remarkable spirit and dedication to the Kids Heart Challenge at Deer Run School."

"Thanks to your efforts, a significant donation has been made to the American Heart Association. We applaud your ability to go above and beyond by raising awareness for heart disease while having fun exercising. Your outstanding commitment to giving back to the community is deeply appreciated."
In March, Patch wrote about the Kindergarteners, and 1st and 2nd graders at Deer Run who exercised their little hearts out to raise moneyfor the American Heart Association. At the time, Black said what the kids did in raising nearly $12,000 was "astounding."
