Did any one in Town government protest the expansion of Tweed?
Who was trying to protect East Haven homeowners from property value depreciation??
Perhaps I missed it, but I never read any protests from our mayor or local officials speaking against increasing the runway at Tweed New Haven Airport. Would you not think they would be trying to protect their property owners from the inevitable devaluation that comes with airport expansion and the subsequent decline of property tax revenues as well?? Please advise if I missed those protests from city leaders. So far I have only read about Mr. Fasano willing to fight to protect East Haven from the inevitable negative impact of increased air traffic. Has everyone forgotten the horrible Allegheny airline crash on Minor Road in 1971? And has anyone advised Mayor Harp of New Haven that homes existed in Morgan Point before the airport existed (since she has stated that homeowners should have known what they were getting when they live or buy near an airport). As I recall, in the 1940’s, the airport was nothing more than a tiny place to accommodate 4 seater private planes? And now that Morgan Point and Momauguin have enjoyed a rebirth, and homeowners there were reassured that investing dollars in remodeling and rebuilding by a contract between East Haven and New Haven (that we TRUSTED put the expansion issue to rest), the town of New Haven reneges on their signed agreements, finds a loophole and with TOTAL lack of morality, completely laughs in the face of East Haven homeowners. I for one, plan to explore legal options. Also, I am wondering if homeowners can initiate a class action suit as we have been deceived by what was purported to be a binding agreement between East Haven and New Haven.
