East Haven Candidate Profile: Charles Coyle Jr. for Town Council

EAST HAVEN, CT —East Haven’s election season is heating up.

East Haven Patch asked candidates to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles as election day draws near.

Charles Coyle Jr. 70, is a Democrat running for election to the Town Council.

Does anyone in your family work in politics or government? This includes any relatives who work in the government you'd be representing.

No.

Education:

East Haven Public Schools and East Haven Grad

Occupation:

I was in the construction business my entire life, doing paving and excavating work throughout Conn

Previous or Current Elected or Appointed Office:

I was on the East Haven Board of Education, from 1982 to 1985 and from 2014 to 2016, East Haven Board of Fire Commissioners, East Haven Planning and Zoning Commission

The single most pressing issue facing our town/district is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

Maintaining the tax base so our seniors and our residents can afford to live in East Haven, and to give our children a good education, and to make sure our town will provide the services they deserve, like cleaning the streets and maintaining our parks and keeping our streets paved and making sure the street our plowed in the winter. And also making sure that any development is done in a good way as not to put any burden on the taxpayers.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I am a life long resident of East Haven and I have been around long enough to know what East Haven needs and by serving on various boards I do understand the needs of our town and putting budgets together will make me a good council member

List other issues that define your campaign platform:

I will work with the Mayor and all the other council members to make sure that we put a budget together that meets the needs of all our residents and also gives the budget needs to the Board of Education so our teachers have what is needed ti give our children a very good education.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

Having served on different boards and commissions I have worked putting budgets together and I do understand the process

The best advice ever shared with me was …

That there is no I in a team player, which means that everyone counts, and at that all our residents count when something is done

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I will work very hard to make sure the residents of my district have my support as well as all the residents of our great TOWN.
