EAST HAVEN, CT —East Haven’s election season is heating up.

East Haven Patch asked candidates to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles as election day draws near.

Henry Butler III, 55, is a Democrat running for election to the Town Council, Fifth District.

Does anyone in your family work in politics or government? This includes any relatives who work in the government you'd be representing.

Son Seymour Police / Wife Madison school system

Education:

1982 EHHS Graduate / CT Police Academy Graduate 1987 / many police administration related courses

Occupation:

Police K9 Handler and Sergeant with the Mohegan Tribal Police Department. 3+ years / Retired East Haven Police Captain 25 years of Service

Previous or Current Elected or Appointed Office:

Twice elected to EH Town Council

The single most pressing issue facing our town/district is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

Keeping taxes affordable while fixing the infrastructure and maintaining services . I will continue to work with the citizens in my district to represent them with the administration to work towards making East Haven Better.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

My knowledge and experience of the political workings and the ability to get things done for my district.

Working many years in the police administration of East Haven and past terms on the East Haven Town Council

Keep positive and continue to work for the hard-working people in my town.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I have been an East Haven Resident since moving here at age 5 I have been volunteering to help this town as a volunteer Firefighter in Foxon Co #3 as a Coach in the Foxon Recreation League and as a Coach in the East Haven Youth Hockey Association. I have raised 3 children in this town and strive to help residents enjoy what I have enjoyed living and working in this great town.
