East Haven Coronavirus Updates: No Playground Use, Outdoor Rules

Mayor Carfora says no gatherings of 10 or more, do not use playgrounds and when in open spaces, keep a distance of six feet from others.

EAST HAVEN, CT — Here's the latest update on East Haven's coronavirus mitigation efforts from Mayor Joe Carfora:

In an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19 and in accordance with advice from East Shore District Health Officials, Mayor Joseph Carfora is discouraging the public use of all Town playgrounds/playscapes and courts.

“Our Town, our first responders, and the State of Connecticut are doing everything we can to drive home just how serious the COVID-19 pandemic is for our communities. I am appealing to parents and care-givers to keep their children from using these facilities"

Carfora is allowing open space areas, parks, and trails to remain open but residents must strictly observe the guidelines provided by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention: no gatherings of more than 10 occur in these areas and that strict social distancing practices, including maintaining distances of 6ft from other individuals.
