• Connecticut neighbors say 83-unit housing plan is too big for Route 80 site (nhregister.com) — East Haven officials are weighing an 83-unit affordable housing complex off Foxon Road that neighbors say is too large, unsafe for traffic, and out of character for the area. With the Planning and Zoning Commission set to deliberate in October under Connecticut's 8-30g statute, residents are pressing concerns about parking, school capacity, fire access, and property values.

• Xavier football shakes off opening jitters to beat East Haven (rep-am.com) — East Haven's football team opened its season on the road in Middletown, falling 27-2 to Xavier after scoring first on a safety but struggling to move the ball. Despite interceptions and solid defensive moments, the Yellowjackets' offense couldn't reach the end zone, while Xavier's passing attack and big runs steadily pulled the game out of reach.
