East Haven GOP Mayoral Primary 2019: Winner Revealed
Local Republicans voted Tuesday to pick their mayoral and town council candidates.

UPDATE/CORRECTION: The third person on the East Haven ballot running for mayor in November is Oni Sioson, who will appear on the ballot as an independent petitioning mayoral candidate. EAST HAVEN, CT — It will be "Big" Steve Tracey, a Republican, versus Joe Carfora, a Democrat, and independent petitioning candidate, Oni Sioson, in the race to become the town's next mayor succeeding Joseph Maturo Jr.
Tracey defeated his GOP challenger Salvatore Maltese Tuesday night by a margin of 708 to 431, according to the Tracey campaign.

EAST HAVEN, CT — East Haven's Republican primary will be held from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sept. 10 as a number of candidates vie for a spot on the ballot in November.
The two candidates vying to become the Republican Mayoral nominee are "Big" Steve Tracey and Salvatore R. Maltese. Whoever wins the primary will battle Joe Carfora, a Democrat, to succeed Mayor Joseph R. Maturo Jr. who chose not to seek re-election. Tracey was endorsed by the Republican Town Committee but Maltese secured enough signatures to force a primary.

Besides the GOP Mayoral candidates, Republicans will pick three candidates for the Town Council to run this fall. Candidates to chose from include: Bob Cubellotti, Linda Hennessey, Robert Ranfone, and Samantha Parlato.

Registration Cut-Off For Primary
The cutoff for primary registration is as follows, according to the Connecticut Secretary of the State office: Application must be postmarked by the 5th day before a primary (OR received by your Registrar of Voters or a voter registration agency by the 5th day before a primary). You may apply in person to your town clerk or registrar until 12:00 noon on the last business day before a primary.
For this year the deadline is Sept. 5 for applications via mail or online. The deadline to transfer from one party to another to vote in a primary passed nearly three months ago.
Voter ID
A driver’s license or photo ID isn’t required to vote in Connecticut. In most cases voters can sign an affidavit if they don’t have photo ID. Here are the full rules.
Absentee Ballots
Must be received via mail by the municipal clerk no later than the close of polls on Sept. 10. In-person returns must be turned in the day before the primary.
