According to the press release issued by Maturo, the Public Works Department and the additional private contractors worked during the night to keep all the roads open for emergency travel. The mayor has authorized private contractors to continue to assist the town crews through the duration of this storm. All crews will continue to work through the day to clear the streets.

On our Facebook page, East Haven Patch readers said most streets had been plowed and thanked the Public Works Department. A few readers in the areas of Park Street, Cosey Beach Road, Martha Street, Coe Avenue, Kenneth Street and Michael Street were still waiting for their streets to be cleared.

Other Key points from the Mayor’s office:

  • Regarding the Town’s Parking Ban

The Town’s parking ban remains in effect and will continue in effect until Wednesday.

  • Regarding Snow Plowing/Public Works

During the “curb to curb” cleanup, it will be impossible for our crews to keep snow out of your driveway aprons. Since no travel is permitted today I might suggest your delaying that part of your cleanup until our crews are finished with your street.

  • School for Wednesday, Jan. 28

New Haven Register reporter Esteban Hernandez tweeted the following

  • Trash Pickup Schedule Change

Trash pickup for Tuesday, Jan. 27 is suspended. Trash and recycling will resume on Wednesday with a one day delay for the rest of the week.

  • All Town Offices will be open tomorrow at 8:30 a.m.
  • Hagaman Library reopens tomorrow at 10:00 a.m.
  • An Enormous “Thank You” to our Emergency Responders and Public Works Crews!

I’d like to thank our Fire, Police, Dispatch, and Emergency personnel who worked through the night and continue to work to keep us safe during this storm.

I would especially like to thank our Public Works Department for their sustained efforts throughout this storm. Although snow totals, so far, have been a bit less than expected, we are still dealing with significant accumulation. Our crews have worked incredibly hard to keep our streets clear and passable and early reports indicate they have been successful.

I think it’s important to note that most of the fire, police, dispatch, and public works employees who were working yesterday evening still have not been home to their families. We all appreciate the hard work and sacrifice of those employees and their families.

Finally, thank you to all of our residents for your continued cooperation. We will work as quickly as possible to clear our streets so you can resume your normal activities. Take your time and stay safe !

Mayor Joseph Maturo, Jr.
