Police say the accused was able to remove his handcuffs, damaged police equipment and spit on police officers. BREAKING

EAST HAVEN, CT — A local man was arrested twice within a 24-hour period for his involvement in two domestic violence incidents, police said Monday.
But that's just a brief overview of the alleged wild crime spree that ensued, according to police. At one point the accused was able to remove his handcuffs, damage a camera inside a cruiser, break a department telphone, spit on several officers, and there was much more, according to police.
East Haven Police Lt. Joseph M. Murgo said on Sept. 8 officers were dispatched to an East Haven residence for a domestic dispute.

Upon arrival, officers spoke to the victim who advised them that her son-in-law, whom she lives with, Anthony Dellamorte, 28, came home and came directly into her room, pushed her down on the bed several times and accused her of stealing his Xanax, police said.
The victim advised officers that Dellamorte looked around her room, knocking over items on her nightstand looking for the medication before leaving the room, police said. The victim advised officers that during this ordeal, she was screaming for someone to help her and call 911, police said.

After the initial investigation, Dellamorte was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct and third-degree assault. While being transported to the East Haven Police Department, Dellamorte was able to wiggle his handcuffed arms to the front of his body, tried kicking the windows out of the cruiser, hit his head on the plexi-glass divider, and spit at officers several times, police said.
Because of Dellamorte’s erratic behavior and comments he made on scene, he was transported to the hospital for psychiatric evaluation and was given a court date of Sept. 9, police said. He was held at the hospital under police supervision until his court date the next morning.
Then at 7:40 p.m. on Sept. 9, East Haven officers were dispatched to the same residence as the first incident for a protective order violation complaint.
As officers approached the residence, they observed Dellamorte exiting it, police said. He was immediately detained. Officers were aware that there was a full protective order placed on Dellamorte and that he was prohibited from being at the residence and/or having any contact with the victim, police said.
While officers were speaking to the victim, she advised them that she lives in constant fear of Dellamorte, and that he had previously ripped all the phones out of the walls to prevent her from calling 911, police said. She stated that prior to officers arrival, Dellamorte showed up at the residence again to look for his Xanax pills, police said. She stated that he had been there for approximate 3 hours looking for the pills, police said.
Dellamorte was placed under arrest and placed in the rear of a police cruiser. While being transported to the East Haven Police Department, Dellamorte was able to remove his handcuffs, broke the in-car camera, and wanted to fight officers, police said.
Once they arrived at headquarters, Dellamorte continued yelling, threatening and spitting at officers in the processing area, police said. He also smashed a department phone and ripped an electronic signature pad out of the wall, police said.
Dellamorte was charged with criminal violation of a protective order, first-degree criminal trespass, first-degree criminal mischief, interfering with an officer, and second-degree threatening. Dellamorte was held all weekend on a $100,000 bond.
