New Haven Man Makes Up a Fake Name After Arrest: Orange Cops

Orange police say the 'fake name' actually had several outstanding arrest warrants, and the man quickly gave police his correct name.

(Editor’s Note: Orange cops said Herve Galliotte lived in East Haven, but that is not true, it’s a New Haven address)

It’s never a smart thing to lie to cops, especially when you give them a fake name, and that fake name has several warrants out for his arrest. That led one East Haven man to come clean quickly, police say.

Orange police say officers conducting routine patrol on Oakwood Road observed a vehicle driving without a proper license plate.

Upon stopping the vehicle, the driver, Herve Galliotte, 23, of Huntington Road in New Haven, allegedly gave the officer a false name and date of birth, police said.

When it turned out that the false information was actually for a real person who had warrants out for their arrest, he recanted and admitted his real name, police said.

He was subsequently taken into custody and charged. A passenger in the vehicle was found to have an arrest warrant from the Trumbull Police Department, which was served by Orange officers.

Galliotte was charged with interfering with an officer, driving a motor vehicle while under suspension, and failure to carry and insurance card. He was released on a promise to appear in Superior Court, Derby on April 28.

The passenger, Miguel Roman, 27, of Minerva Street in Derby was charged with second-degree failure to appear.
