East Haven mom runs for a new life
Amanda Evans named to the Hartford Marathon Foundation's 2019 Aiello Inspiration Team

In 2015, Amanda Evans of East Haven fled her home with her 11-day-old daughter after her ex-husband had his second psychotic break. She left at midnight in the middle of January, with her newborn wrapped in a blanket, and never went back to that house again.
Amanda created an opportunity to start over, and that also meant taking care of her own health. She tried various weight loss programs but things really improved when she started running. It gave her peace of mind, a feeling of accomplishment, and helped her heal. In the process, she lost 85 pounds in 3 years.
She will take on her first race ever at the Eversource Hartford Half Marathon on October 12. Amanda has been named to the Hartford Marathon Foundation’s 2019 Aiello Inspiration Team, a group of runners with incredible reasons for participating in the annual Eversource Hartford Marathon and Half Marathon this fall.
