East Haven Police Charge Man With Impersonating an Officer
Police say a local resident was in fear of his safety after the suspect pretended to be an officer.

East Haven police say Brandon Locke, 22, is accused of impersonating a police officer after he told a local resident that he couldn’t drive unless he produced his license and registration.
Police said at 2:20 a.m. on Sunday officers responded to the area of French Avenue for a reported incident of impersonation of a police officer.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the complainant, who stated that he was walking down French Avenue when a vehicle occupied by four people stopped and the driver stated to him, “I’m a cop, let me see your license and registration or else you won’t be able to drive,” police said.

The victim took out his phone to dial 911, but the vehicle drove away. The man continued walking when the vehicle returned, driving by him very slowly. At this point, the victim was in fear for his safety and called 911.
A vehicle description was given to patrol units who located and stopped the vehicle, a silver Honda Civic at the intersection of Prospect Road and Hotchkiss Street.

Following an investigation, the driver, Locke was charged with impersonation of a police officer. Locke was released on a $500 bond.
