East Haven Prepares For Major Winter Storm: Latest Forecast, Cancellations, How To Prepare
East Haven Fire Chief Matt Marcarelli was blunt: "In short, it looks like we are gonna get it good." Stay off the roads Sunday, folks.

EAST HAVEN, CT — East Haven Mayor Joseph Carfora today announced that the is now "operating under the state's Severe Cold Weather Protocol through noon Wednesday, Jan. 28.
The measure was taken in response to "an extended period of dangerously cold temperatures expected across the region,' in addition to the anticipated snow and ice.
"The safety of our residents is our top priority," Carfora said. "Extreme cold can be life-
threatening, particularly for those without adequate shelter. This protocol ensures that individuals
experiencing homelessness and other vulnerable populations have access to warming centers,
shelters, and transportation when needed."

From the East Haven Police Department, Winter Weather & Parking Reminder
As another round of winter weather is expected to impact the area Sunday into Monday, residents are reminded to drive cautiously in snowy conditions and to remain off the roads unless travel is absolutely necessary. A parking ban automatically goes into effect when snowfall begins and will remain in place for 36 hours after the snow event ends. This allows the East Haven Public Works Department to clear streets safely and efficiently.
Residents with off-street parking (such as driveways) are required to use those spaces during snow events. Residents without off-street parking must follow the Town’s parking ordinances regarding which side of the street to park on and when.
The Town’s Snow Parking Ordinances can be viewed here:
https://library.municode.com/.../codes/code_of_ordinances...
Ordinance reminder (Sec. 11-46):
At the start of a snow event, immediately when snow begins to fall, a parking ban automatically takes effect. All vehicles must be parked in off-street facilities where available. The ban remains in effect for the duration of the storm and for thirty-six (36) hours after the snow event has ended. Your safety is our main priority. Stay home, stay safe, grab supplies (and snacks) before the storm starts, throw on football or a movie and make the best out of the storm! We will provide any additional updates through our social media platforms. We will be out and ready to assist any way we can so give us a call if you need us. 203-468-3820 or 911 for emergencies
