East Haven Police Still Searching for Likely Driver Involved in a Fatal Accident Wednesday: UPDATE
The fatal accident involved a vehicle and pole near the Home Depot on Frontage Road.

On Thursday morning, Police Lt. Joseph M. Murgo said in an email to the local media that police believe the image of the person (see above) is the person who was behind the wheel of the car involved in Wednesday's fatal accident.
He said police are still searching for the man pictured above. Murgo also said a positive identity of the victim is expected to be released later on Thursday.

EAST HAVEN, CT— The South Central Connecticut Traffic Unit (SCCTU) is investigating a fatal motor-vehicle accident that occurred around noon in the area of The Home Depot, on Frontage Road in East Haven, police said.
The accident was a one car accident. One of the occupants is deceased on scene, and one occupant was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, said Police Lt. Joseph Murgo.

The third occupant, described as a black male in his late teens, early 20’s wearing black shorts with a blue stripe and blue sneakers fled the scene on foot, police said.
He was last seen in the wooded area between Dunkin Donuts, 91 Frontage Rd. and CarMax, police said.
Anyone with information regarding the identity of the 3rd occupant is asked to call the East Haven Police Department at 203-468-3820. The names of the two occupants are not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin, police said.

Original story: Route 1 between Forbes Place and I-95 exit 51 was still closed as of 4 p.m. Wednesday due to a fatal accident.
Frontier was working to replace the pole and the accident caused outages for fie UI customers, according to the New Haven Register.
The I-95 southbound exit 51 off ramp is closed and Route 1 remains closed in that section, according to the state Department of Transportation.
Route 1 should be open by 7:45 p.m. at the latest, according to the DOT.
