EAST HAVEN, CT —East Haven Public Television is launching a new series, Discussions in Digital, which ETV said is "designed to address important topics across the digital domain."

The first of the series, co-hosted with CT News Junkie, is set for April 21 at 7 p.m. at the ETV Community Media Center, 230 Main St. in East Haven.

Featuring a sit-down conversation on the drawbacks of so-called ‘YouTube Journalism,’ the panel for the first of the new series, will feature video producer and ETV board

be live-streamed to the ETV YouTube page, as well as via CT News Junkie outlets.

"We’ve all experienced a firehose of content from new
journalists and reporters across various forms of
media," Miles said. "But we are also struggling with
issues of authenticity across those platforms and from
those individuals."

In a media release from Miles, it's noted that "ETV and CT News Junkie are partnering in order to start addressing these important issues, the concerns associated with them, and the
underlying lessons to be learned."

"There is a balance that must be maintained between 1st Amendment protections - informing the public, expression of opinion, etc - and simply hyping up fears in order to harvest likes and shares and comments," Miles said. "Every news story can’t just be yelling conspiracy in a crowded theatre."

The cost for attending in person is free, but seating is limited to 25 persons. The live stream can be found at the ETV YouTube channel, which is youtube.com/@ETVCMC.
