Former Longtime Board of Education Member Erika Santiago Sworn In As New Town Clerk

EAST HAVEN, CT —Erika Santiago was sworn in Wednesday as East Haven's new Town Clerk.

Santiago served on the East Haven Board of Education since 2017.

Community and civic-minded, she's served as secretary of the East Haven Rotary, sat on commissions including the East Haven Fireworks Committee, and is a past PTO Momauguin Elementary School president.

She succeeds Lisa Balter, who left the post in March to take a non-elected Town Clerk position in Clinton. Balter was first elected to serve as Town Clerk in 2021.

Mayor Joseph A. Carfora thanked Santiago for her years of service to the Board of Education.

"While you will be missed, we are excited to see you continue serving our community in this important role," Carfora said. Her "experience and commitment make her a natural fit for this role, he added.
