In His Decades Of Service, Chuck Licata Has Saved Countless Lives
A pioneer in EMS and one of the town's first EMTs, assistant fire chief Licata retired this week after selflessly serving for 40 years.

EAST HAVEN, CT —What East Haven Fire Department Assistant Chief Chuck Licata did for the town of East Haven and its residents over more than four decades can hardly be measured, he's given that much.
What is undeniable is that his devotion to the safety of the entire community for generations, in no small measure by helping to spearhead and create the town's paramedic service has saved countless lives," East Haven Fire Department Chief Matt Marcarelli said.
Licata retired this week after serving the town first as a volunteer, and then career firefighter for 40 years.

"He was a pioneer in EMS with the East Haven Fire Department as one of the first EMT’s with the department," Marcarelli said. "He was integral in the planning, implementation and expansion of the town’s paramedic service which has saved an uncountable number of lives since its inception."
Marcarelli said that he, and the town, have been fortunate to have had Licata as an East Haven first responder for generations.

"I was lucky to have him by my side as assistant chief as long as I did," Marcarelli said. "He has left huge shoes to fill because he was not only 100 percent dedicated to the department, but also the town."
East Haven Mayor Joseph A. Carfora described Licata as being true public servant for all in his hometown.
"You have been a staple here in East Haven’s community for almost 35 years and have made so many great impressions in people’s lives along the way," Carfora said. "You truly are what public service is all about."
