SGT Salvatore Conte Jr., New Haven, 1928 - 2000. Served as Drill Instructor, Parris Island during Korean Conflict.

Eric Michael Mastroianni Sr., a Navy Seabee Veteran, was a culinary specialist and a equipment operator with Navy construction battalion. From New Haven with ties to East Haven, his name is on the war Memorial in Hamden. Mastroianni was awarded the Connecticut Veterans Service Medal and a humanitarian award for his rescue efforts in the Korean flight 801 crash on August 6, 1997 in Guam. He was the training officer for the Edison Division Sea Cadet program at Fort Hale.
