The "Letter To The Editor"

The recent Letter to the Editor regarding the background of the other mayoral candidate was somewhat unexpected but nevertheless shocking.

Not because of the information it publicized, for a vague reference to it is has already been made in this medium, but the presentation of the criticism, I thought, did not have to be that personal.

The vagaries of life is part of living and when confronted with unwelcomed circumstances we do what we think we must, for better or worse, never knowing how our decisions will turn out, but always hoping it would be as we had wished, reminded that life is that unpredictable.

We pursue a goal, convinced of our abilities and only fate could determine whether our assessment is on the mark or off the chart.

To the degree that Steve Tracey offered himself to serve, and whether he is the right person or not, is almost immaterial, for in the final analysis, our political system will eventually decide.

Winning to some of us is everything but life has taught us that it’s not so much about who wins or who loses, but how we play the game that truly matters.

For at the end of the day, we still have to live (and work together) in this small enclave we call East Haven.
