Man, 95, Charged With Negligent Vehicular Homicide In 2020 Crash
Peter Acampora was charged in the death of motorcyclist Bruce Esposito, 29, who died from injuries suffered in the East Haven crash.

EAST HAVEN, CT — A 95-year-old East Haven man has been charged with negligent homicide with a vehicle in connection with the fatal July 2020 crash that claimed the life of 29-year-old Bruce Esposito of East Haven, police said.
Peter Acampora turned himself in to police Monday. He was released on a $2,500 bond, according to East Haven police Department Capt. Joseph M. Murgo.
Murgo said that through an investigation conducted by the South Central Connecticut Traffic Unit's Regional Accident Reconstruction Team, it was determined that Acampora, who was driving a 1996 Oldsmobile Ciera, caused the collision when he attempted to cross all four lanes of Hemingway Avenue as he drove west from Tyler Street Extension to get to Tyler Street. Acampora struck Esposito, who was driving a Harley-Davidson motorcycle southbound on Hemingway Avenue at the intersection of Hemingway and Tyler.
