EAST HAVEN, CT — A 40-year-old man is accused of exposing himself to a woman on a CT Transit bus and then following her after she got off the bus, according to police.

Police responded to the Gulf Gas Station, located at 667 Coe Avenue, on Oct. 2 on the report of a suspicious man following the woman after she got off the bus. The woman told police that she got on the CT Transit bus in New Haven and was sitting in a row of seats alone.

As the bus continued its route through East Haven, the woman told police that a man – later identified as Bernard Moore – got out of the seat in front of her and sat directly next to her, according to Lt. Joseph Murgo.

She advised officers that Moore would cover then uncover himself under a jacket while pleasuring himself, and even tugged at her skirt at one point.

“The complainant stated that she got off the bus on Coe Avenue in an attempt to get away from Moore, but he also got off and followed her south bound on Coe Avenue, even crossing the street when she did. Police found Moore standing outside of the gas station and he told them that he didn’t know where he was and he must have gotten on the wrong bus, according to Murgo. Moore was then arrested and taken to police headquarters.

Moore was charged with second-degree breach of peace, third-degree stalking and public indecency. He was held on a $5,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in New Haven Superior Court on Thursday morning.
