Mayor Joe Carfora and others in the community broke bread at Transilvania Restaurant & Bar in East Haven with Romanian dignitaries.

EAST HAVEN, CT —East Haven Mayor Joseph A. Carfora was among the guests at a community dinner at the town's newest, and likely its most unique eatery, Transilvania Restaurant and Bar. Also at the dinner were special guests, the Ambassador of Romania to the U.S. Andrei Muraru and Honorary Consul of Romania to Connecticut Dana Bucin.
A scholar, Muraru was officially named "Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania" to the States. Pres. Joe Biden accepted his Letters of Credence in 2021.
Bucin represents Romanian interests in Connecticut and works to foster bi-lateral relations between Romania and Connecticut in the business, commercial, cultural, legal, scientific, and social spheres.

They were joined by other members of the Romanian community from the state.
"I’m always proud to talk about the virtues of our community, but it was also delightful to engage in conversation about the Romanian culture," Carfora said. "I will also add that I was so pleased to see so many East Haven residents having dinner there as well – thank you for stopping to say hello. It is refreshing to see our community consistently supporting this new business. They have a charming atmosphere, with great food, and an exceptional staff."
