New, Distinctive Legacy Clock Unveiled In East Haven

East Haven Rotary held a dedication for the new Legacy Clock the club has donated to the town in celebration of its anniversary.

The East Haven Rotary Club : The East Haven Rotary Club is celebrating their 80 th Anniversary of community service by the installation of a distinctive legacy “post” clock located in front of the Hagaman Memorial Library.

The clock will recognize 80 years of community service by the East Haven Rotary. The Club has announced that they will unveiling and dedicating the clock on Saturday August 24th at 10 am. The dedication will be in front of the Hagaman Library and the Club is extending a welcome for all to attend. Local dignitaries are expected to join, as well as representatives from Rotary International and members of the East Haven Rotary Club, along with the current sponsors of the clock. The Rotary Club was officially formed on March 3, 1939 and has been providing various forms of community service to East Haven residents since that time. The club is part of Rotary International, which was founded in 1905 and remains the largest service organization worldwide, with a lifelong commitment indicated by their motto of “service above self”. To help with the substantial cost of this project, the club is still seeking additional “clock
sponsors”, which will be recognized on permanent bronze plaques placed on all four sides of its base. Plaque inscriptions are available for $ 250 and will be strictly on a first come-first served basis, until all spots are filled. The inscription may contain up to 21 letters and spaces and may honor the donor’s business, themselves or the memory of a loved one. The East Haven Rotary Club, Inc. meets weekly each Thursday at Twin Pines Diner at 34 Main Street, East Haven from 6 to 7 pm.
