Obituary: Dolores Salvati Gianfredi 77, of East Haven

In addition to Dolores being the Gianfredi family's matriarch, she was a positive force and the face of hope in the lives of her children.

Dolores Salvati Gianfredi 77, of East Haven beloved wife of the late Vincent Gianfredi Sr. passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving children and entered the gates of Heaven on June 27, 2017 at her home. Loving mother of Vincent (Molly) Gianfredi Jr. of West Haven, James (Lauren Aloi) Gianfredi of Cheshire, David (Emily) Gianfredi of South Jordan, UT and Gina (William) Remus and Donovin (Katrona) Gianfredi all of East Haven.

Also survived by 13 Grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Sister of Donald J. (Carol) Salvati of CA, Robert (Vivian) Salvati of Clarkesville, TN and the late Blanche Rosati, Rita Cruz, Jeannette Proto and Adolph "Sonny" Salvati. Dolores was born in New Haven on January 17, 1940 daughter of the late Adolph and Julia Cannavacciolo Salvati. Prior to her retirement Dolores worked in the marketing department for the former Echlin Corporation.

In addition to Dolores being the Gianfredi family's matriarch, she was a positive force and the face of hope in the lives of her children. One of her many gifts she shared in this life was her maternal love and vibrant spirit. Dolores adored making funny memories with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed many traveling ventures to San Diego, Las Vegas, Europe, Atlantic City and many more local East Coast destinations. She lived in the seaside community of Momauguin East Haven for 25 years where she raised her five children.

Dolores, ever the avid reader and an exceptional cook enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. During her last few years Dolores enjoyed attending The Orchard House, where she enjoyed lots of activities and made new friends. She was greatly admired by many and will be profoundly missed.

Her funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME 234 Foxon Rd (Rte. 80) East Haven SATURDAY morning at 10:30 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Vincent dePaul Church at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Friends may call SATURDAY morning from 8:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association 200 Executive Blvd. Southington, CT. 06489.
