• Town Denied Insurance for $11M Judgment Over the Political Closing of Quarry (insurancejournal.com) — East Haven has been denied insurance coverage for an $11 million settlement tied to the politically driven 2017 shutdown of a local quarry, leaving taxpayers fully exposed to the cost. A federal judge found neither of the town's insurers must defend or indemnify East Haven because of policy timing and a due-process exclusion. The ruling follows a prior decision that town officials violated the quarry owners' constitutional property rights.

• Two CT men indicted in armed robberies. It was at convenience stores and threats were made to use firearms. (courant.com) — East Haven residents are learning more about an April armed robbery at the ZaZa City convenience store on Foxon Road, where suspects allegedly stole thousands in cash and cannabis products. Federal prosecutors say two New Haven men are now indicted for that holdup and a similar robbery in Hamden. Both are detained and face lengthy potential prison sentences if convicted.
