He also served as a field training officer, field training program supervisor, patrol supervisor and supervisor of accreditation. Under his supervision, the police department attained national accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, "known as the gold standard in best practices for policing," police said.
"It is great for the town and the department to have another talented, homegrown candidate join," the police department's leadership team, Maturo said. "As I leave office, I believe both the police and fire departments are in great hands and I look forward to hearing of the continued accomplishments and successes of each Department. I wish all the men and women of our emergency response services to stay safe and return home to their loved ones.”

Lennon praised Tracy's "dedicated work ethic, and his strong leadership skills," which the police chief said, "make him the perfect fit for the position."
Lennon said Tracy's promotion is "just the beginning of several other departmental changes and supervisory promotions that will be taking place in the next several months." He did not elaborate in a press release, but said, "I’m excited about the direction of the Department as we strive to make progress and continue to provide our community with the best 21st Century policing practices.”
East Haven Police Commission Chairman William Illingworth said the promotion of Tracy, sworn in Sept. 23, “solidifies the leadership" of the police department.
