Pup Rescued From 122-Degree Car At Beach Sunday Has Bonded With Mayor
Not sure if he'll end up as a town mascot or not, but the mayor and the dachshund-boxer-beagle mix puppy have bonded.

EAST HAVEN, CT — Not sure if he'll end up as a town mascot or not, but the mayor and dachshund-boxer-beagle mix puppy have bonded.
Sunday, a concerned citizen alerted authorities that a puppy was locked inside a very hot car near the town beach. Animal control was called, and the officer made an attempt to find the vehicle's owner on the beach, but no one stepped up, East Haven Mayor Joseph A. Carfora said. Animal Control Officer Monica Vece contacted the East Haven Fire Department, Carfora said, to get the car open and rescue the dog. Carfora said the temperature inside the car was 122 degrees.
Once the little guy was in safe hands, he was taken to the East haven Animal Shelter, was checked out and Carfora said, "He was OK. He's in really good health."

Carfora said that the dog's owners surrendered the dog to East Haven Monday morning. Some on Facebook suggested he should be East Haven's mascot. If he was, what would his name be?
