Teen On Skateboard Seriously Injured In Hit-And-Run In East Haven

Police are searching for the suspect's vehicle and a video of the accident has been released.

EAST HAVEN, CT — The East Haven Police Department is looking for the public’s help in locating a White Chevy Express van involved in a hit-and-run accident that occurred Monday evening. The victim is a female juvenile who was on a skateboard, police said.

The accident occurred in the area of Tyler Street and Taylor Avenue at 7:34 p.m. Police say the skateboarder was crossing Tyler Street. As the juvenile was crossing, a White Chevy Express work van, traveling westbound on Tyler Street struck her, knocking her unconscious, police said.

Upon officers arrival, they located the juvenile who was suffering from non-life threatening injuries, police said. Several witnesses stopped to render aid and called 911. Witnesses state that after the initial collision, the van stopped briefly, pulled into a driveway to turn around, then proceeded eastbound on Tyler Street before fleeing the area, police said.

Surveillance video of the area captured the van pass by on Tyler Street immediately after the incident. Witnesses are seen running back to the injured juvenile as the van turns around in a driveway.
