Teen In Stolen Vehicle Strikes Cop Car: East Haven Police

Police say they also found heroin, crack cocaine and pot inside the stolen car.

EAST HAVEN, CT — A teenager and a 23-year-old man are accused of being in a stolen vehicle out of West Haven and possessing drugs, East Haven Police said. An alert officer made the arrest.

At 12:14 a.m. on Feb. 20, Officer Kevin McGuire observed a vehicle backed into a parking space in the Rite Aid parking lot on Main Street. Due to a rash of commercial burglaries in the area, McGuire decided to make contact with the occupants of the vehicle, police said. A registration check of the vehicle in question revealed it had been reported stolen out of West Haven, police said.

Once contact was attempted, the driver of the vehicle, a female juvenile, tried to drive out of the parking lot but was quickly prevented from doing so by Sergeant Kevin Klarman who had just arrived on scene, police said.

The teen attempted to reverse the stolen vehicle, striking McGuire’s car in the process, police said. After several commands, the teen was removed from the vehicle, police said.

The passenger, identified as Khari Massey, 23, was also removed from the vehicle and placed under arrest.

A search of the vehicle revealed 2 small zip lock bags containing suspected Crack Cocaine, 20 wax folds of suspected Heroin, and a clear zip lock bag containing Marijuana, police said.

The juvenile was charged with:

· Larceny in the Third Degree

· (2 counts)Interfering with an Officer / Resist

· Possession of Narcotics with Intent to Sell

· Conspiracy to Sell Narcotics

· Conspiracy / Larceny in the Third Degree

Khari Massey, Quinnipiac Avenue New Haven was charged with:

· Larceny in the Third Degree

· Conspiracy / Larceny in the Third Degree

· Possession of Narcotics with Intent to Sell

· Conspiracy to Sell Narcotics

The juvenile was given a court date. She was turned over to a guardian on scene. Massey was held on a $2,500 bond and faced a judge.
