EAST HAVEN, CT — An under-construction Laurel Street house with no one inside caught fire Tuesday night, Fire Chief Matt Marcarelli confirmed.

The fire, reported just before 11 p.m., was largely exterior and included an attached garage. Marcarelli said there was "substantial damage to the exterior of the garage and into the rafters of the garage," but he added that it is "still habitable."
