A View From the Deck: No More Left Turns!

In this installment of 'A View From the Deck', local author J. Wiley Dumas calls out the recent measure by the State Democrats to allow illegal aliens to have driver's licenses.

Note: The following is OPINION. As such, it is the author's Point of View and his alone.

I will NEVER understand what drives the uber Left to do some of the things it does. I mean, if they are so enthralled with trying to bring down our great nation, why don’t they simply say that? But, no, that would be too obvious. So much better to hide their intentions behind legislation.

And to also take shelter behind the latest ‘cause de jour’, this time being ‘Immigration Rights for Illegal Immigrants.’

As I’ve stated before here in this blog, I have NO ISSUE with people coming into this country. My issue is with those here ILLEGALLY that have criminal records.

Just wanted to set that straight before I continue my latest rant.

You think the problem is just in Wonderland on the Potomac? Guess again.

As you may have read here today on Patch, during a late night session on May 22nd into the early hours of May 23rd, a bill was proposed by the Connecticut House of Representatives Democratic Party requiring the State Department of Motor Vehicles to issue valid Connecticut driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants who reside in the state in violation of federal immigration laws. This measure passed the House, despite not passing through a single legislative committee, as the bill was introduced in the late hours of the legislative session, offering little opportunity for members of the House to analyze the bill.

Typical move by the uber Left. Sounds like some of those ‘Recess Appointments’ by ‘you-know-who’ that have now come into question, or that famous quote by Nancy Pelosi regarding ‘ObamaCare’: “We have to pass it to know what’s in it.”

Well, now we know, don’t we?

Seriously? Are our elected officials that underhanded? Are they that sneaky? Well, considering the ‘Culture of Cover-ups’ now going on in Wonderland under the present administration, I guess that’s a pretty stupid question.

The bill, as it currently exists, has the potential to provide encouragement for criminals to move to Connecticut and obtain a legal form of identification, as there is no system in place at this time that would determine if the applicant has a criminal record outside of the state.

Brilliant. It’s bad enough that Gov. Malloy has already blatantly infringed upon We, the People’s Rights as guaranteed by the Second Amendment of the Constitution of the United States, under the guise of “safety for our children,” but to have the House Democrats willfully violate federal immigration law by proposing this asinine measure is about as whacked-out as you can get.

Hmm. I wonder exactly what ‘natural, herbal remedies’ were being passed around while drafting this bill, as it certainly seems like something that could only be crafted by the brain dead.

The way this bill is written and presented creates concern on so many levels. It would allow a person who has entered the United States illegally, who may have been convicted of a felony in another state, to have a legal form of identification, and be on the same highways as school buses carrying our children, despite having no record of their past, which has the prospect to create catastrophic consequences. But, because the Liberal-minded Democrats, that we elected to represent us, felt it necessary to circumvent the proper legislative process, these potential problems did not have the chance to be vetted out of the bill.

“We have to pass it to know what’s in it.”

The legislation also failed to include any method to authenticate where an individual is originally from, or where they currently reside, only requiring that the illegal immigrant prove that they have resided in the state for 90 days prior to applying for the license. The bill would also allow unverifiable documents, such as emails, to suffice as valid forms of proving residence.

Let me repeat…BRILLIANT! And we pay these morons with OUR TAX DOLLARS? Why? Why do we continue to elect such underhanded individuals to represent us? Are we so immoral and so ignorant and uncaring about the safety of our state that we would allow this? Where is the justifiable outrage over this? Are We, the People of Connecticut sharing those same ‘herbal remedies’ and becoming equally, if not additionally, ‘brain dead’ as the (so-called) representatives that came up with this outright reprehensible scheme?

Seriously, does no one care any longer what they do in Hartford? It affects each one of us, after all.

The bill passed the House of Representatives 74 to 55 at around 6:00AM on May 23rd after nearly eight hours of late night debate and now awaits approval by the Democratically-controlled Senate, and will then go to the desk of Gov. Malloy, who has already stated that he is in favor of the license bill.

If enacted, Connecticut would be the only state on the East Coast to offer driver’s licenses to illegal aliens.

I don’t get it. I mean why, why, WHY take this step? Don’t we have enough problems in our state without bringing on more potential disaster? It seems to me that our entire state government is in the hands of people who are doing their all to push the uber Left agenda as far as they can. Meanwhile, We, the People, sit idly by, watching ‘Dancing With the Stars’, as our state, and nation, continue to be pulled down into the shadowy chaos of Progressive Liberalism.

It’s way past time to put a stop to this insanity, while we still have a United States left.
