Armed Somers Man, 76, Had to Be Subdued by Police Dog During Brief Standoff: Court Documents

Troopers had guns drawn outside the home, according to court documents.

SOMERS, CT — A 76-year-old Somers man had to be tackled by a police dog while armed state troopers stood at the ready during altercation the day after Christmas, court papers indicate.

In a redacted file at Rockville Superior Court, police indicated a woman had discovered a handgun in Levine's jacket pocket at the 28 Eleanor Road home and said Levine went on a tirade when she asked him about it.

She told investigators that he "threw" her around the home "like a rag doll."

State police said they were called to a disturbance at the home at 9:26 p.m. on Friday. Troopers stood outside the house with rifles drawn and called Levine in an effort to get him to come out, according to court papers. He eventually answered the door but would not lie down and police dog Axel tackled him, according to court documents.

After being arrested, Levine spent the weekend in the lockup on a $100,000 bond and appeared in Rockville Superior Court Tuesday, according to an arrest report. He posted a $5,000 bond after it was reduced and is due back in court on Jan. 2, according to court papers.

He was charged with second-degree assault, disorderly conduct and and interfering with an officer, according to an arrest report.
