Arrest Made In Botched Cumberland Farms Robbery
State police have made an arrest in a botched robbery at a Cumberland Farms store.

ELLINGTON, CT —State police have made an arrest in a botched robbery at the Five Corners Cumberland Farms two months ago.
Joseph Richard Boughton, 24, of South Windsor, was taken into custody on Thursday, state police said. He was charged with criminal attempt at both first-degree robbery and sixth-dxegree larceny, a warrant states.
He is accused of entering the Cumby's at 12:20 a.m. on Jan. 22 and demanding that the clerk open the cash drawer while implying he had a gun in his pocket of his hoodie, according to a warrant.

The clerk said she could not and Boughton then fled the store without taking anything, according to a warrant.
A total of $65 was in the cash drawer, according to a warrant.

He was identified after a traffic stop in Manchester, according to a warrant.
Boughton was held overnight on a $50,000 bond and was to appear in court on Friday, state police said.
