At Last!
The love you feel in your heart for your child is hard to describe, by far the most wonderful feeling in the world!
For the ten years that I’ve directed a child care center we have hosted annual Mother’s Day Tea Parties to honor and celebrate the special women in our lives. We welcome mothers, grandmothers, aunts and friends, honoring them for all the wonderful things they do for us. I love watching our students escort their guests down the hall to our party…..so proud and excited to have that special lady by their side. Each year we have our students sing a couple of Mother’s Day songs for their audience and as the room fills with their little voices so do the hearts of those women in the room.
This week's tea parties were no different. As I looked around the room watching the love and pride fill the room I was also amazed by all our moms devoted to raising extraordinary children. Each mother, grandmother, and aunt in that room, have committed themselves to loving their child unconditionally and with all their hearts.
My daughter was part of this year’s festivities and when I saw her singing up in front of those people, I suddenly realized how quickly she’s growing up. It seems like just yesterday I was holding her in the wee hours of the night soaking up every moment I could. I know that all those women today shared in that same thought. Where does the time go?

It’s an amazing feeling being a mother. I could not wait for my children to be born! When each of them were babies I would stare at them for the longest time, in awe of how perfect they were and continue to be. Furthermore, I feel as though I have a stronger bond with my own mother and grandmother, for having children has allowed me to truly understand and respect their amazing qualities. I am blessed to have two loving women in my life; they have always been wonderful role models when it comes to motherhood.
To all of you Mom’s out there, I wish you a Happy Mother’s Day. May you take a moment to feel proud of the role you play in your child’s life and understand that your role as a mother is the most important job you’ll ever have!

Here’s a link to a song best known by Etta James, but more recently sung by Eva Cassidy. This song became a nightly lullaby for my children, because I truly feel the lyrics captivate how my heart felt and still feels for both of them.

I’ve also shared a picture of 4 generation of females in my family. Happy Mother’s Day to my Nana and Mom! Thank you for showing me how to feel love and give love!
