Striving to help bereaved families in their hardest and darkest hours, The Compassionate Friends East Of the River CT Chapter plans two big summer events.

The Compassionate Friends East Of the River CT
SUMMER EVENTS
The Manchester based TCF East Of the River CT Chapter is sponsoring two major summer events to raise funds in order to do outreach, allowing people to know that we exist and to find us, easily, in the time of their need.
The First is coming up this weekend, JUNE 4 & 5th. TCF East of the River CT. members and our friends have been donating furniture, kitchen good, art work, books, children’s toys, children’s clothing and a hugely diverse amount of goods for the first of what we hope will become a twice annual TAG SALE. The two day sale will take place from 9:00 – 3:00, on Route 32, not far from the Mansfield Drive-In and flea Market on 398 Stafford Rd, Mansfield at the home of TCF East of the River Treasurer and fellow bereaved parent, Dave Evans. Baked goods and beverages will be available for purchase to enhance shopping experiences. Monetary donations to the TCF East of the River CT Chapter treasury will also be gratefully accepted.
STATEWIDE WALK TO REMEMBERThe Second large scale event is the Connecticut WALK TO REMEMBER, held in conjunction with the National The Compassionate Friends Walk. This will be Connecticut’s first ever State wide walk, inviting all Connecticut The Compassionate Friends, and their families and friends to join in the walk honoring all Children Gone Too Soon.

The Walk has a Virtual Fund Raising Component where we are asking for donations to be made in honor of our children gone too soon. Donations are accepted on line before the walk and through July at secure website TCFWalkToRemember.org and by clicking on the team name: Holding hands Hugging Hearts. To Support the Virtual Walk requires no sweating, no leaving of your home, and is quick, simple, easy and really effective in helping us to generate the funds that will allow us to continue to do Good Work within our TCF East Of The River CT Chapter.
Then on July 9, 2011 that involves motion and sweat and physical participation.
Our goal on July 9 is to first generate as much publicity and visibility as we possibility can to let others know that The Compassionate Friends exist and what it is that we do. Our goal is that when a family is in the hardest and darkest times of their lives that someone can connect them to us and we can be there, to hug, to hold, to care, to understand, and to offer the beginning of hope and healing; even when it seems that neither will ever be possible again after the death.

We are hoping to have several hundred people in attendance for the actual Physical Walk, and welcome not only bereaved families and their friends, but anyone who cares and can empathize with the pain of those who have lost a child, a grandchild or a sibling ~ from any age, for any reason. It costs nothing to walk, but the benefits of helping us to help others is great. Pre-Registration is on line at TCFEastOfTheRiverCT.org
We want to call attention to who we are
To Let People Know That We Exist
So that They Can Find Us When They Need Us.
We will also be joining together that day to remember
Our Children Gone Too soon.
Following the Walk To Remember, we invite everyone to join with us for
A Cook Out
Pot Luck Picnic
Light Entertainment
A Remembrance Ceremony
A Butterfly Release
As we all honor those who we love, but are no longer here in physical being.
