
Bruce E. Devlin is a candidate in the upcoming election and is seeking a 2nd term on the Board of Education.
Bruce has had the professional experience of working in both the legal and accounting professions. He began his career at Coopers &Lybrand, LLP in Boston where he specialized in state and local tax consulting for approximately four years from 1996 - 2000. Bruce later returned to Springfield and worked at the law firm of Robinson Donovan, P.C. from early 2000 through 2006 where he was a partner. In January 2007 Bruce started his own law firm with his business partner Michael Frankel where he continues to hone his tax background into his legal expertise focusing on wills, trusts and other aspects of estate planning probate, estate administration, business, taxation and elder law. Bruce is one of the few lawyers in the area who holds a legal masters degree in taxation, which he earned following his graduation from law school.
Bruce was raised in Somers and after leaving the area for over a decade returned to his hometown in 2008. Bruce graduated with a B.A., summa cum laude, from the University of Connecticut in 1992 and received a J.D. from the University of San Francisco in 1995. Bruce also earned an L.L.M. in taxation, graduating summa cum laude from Golden Gate University in 1996. Bruce is licensed to practice law in both Massachusetts and Connecticut.
Bruce has 3 children in the Somers school system and is vested in participating in the growth and future of the district. He has served on the Somers Board of Education for the past 4 years and is currently Vice Chairman. Bruce has used his legal knowledge to assist the Board in union contract negotiations as well as navigating through routine Board issues.
