The Ellington Historical Society invites friends, families, local businesses, organizations, and volunteer groups, to our first-ever Wickets &amp; Whimsy: Nellie's Great Lawn Social! Friday, June 26, 2026 5:15 PM – 8:30 PMNellie McKnight Museum, 70 Main Street, Ellington.  Enjoy a summer evening filled with: -Croquet competition -Jazz Age garden party atmosphere -Gatsby-inspired, vintage, or garden party attire if you wish -Prizes for whimsy and styleTeam building and friendly competition -Food and refreshments available -Teams can include up to 6 players, making this the perfect outing for coworkers, volunteers, board members, friends, and family. Whether you're playing croquet, showing off your vintage style, or simply enjoying a beautiful summer evening on the museum grounds, there's something for everyone. Ellington Farmers Market

Join us on Saturday, July 4th from 9am to noon at Market Park, 72 Maple St in Ellington for our Patriotic Parade! Kids are invited to dress up in their finest red, white, and blue and make their very own patriotic hats and accessories at the market. Then, at 11am, get ready for a little parade of our own as our youngest market-goers march around Market Park in style.
Setting the soundtrack for the morning will be Tenpenny Bounce, bringing the lively sounds of 1920's and 1930's era jazz straight from New Orleans, Chicago, and New York. It's the kind of music that makes a Saturday morning feel like a celebration.
And speaking of celebrating — this year marks America's 250th birthday, and there's no better way to mark the occasion than with a market full of fresh, local food. Stock up on everything you need for your Fourth of July BBQ, from meats to sides to sweet treats, all from the farmers and makers who call this community home.

Admission is free; donations to the Somers Cultural Commission gratefully accepted. Lawn chairs and picnics encouraged. In the event of rain or excessive heat, the concert will be held at the Somers Knights of Columbus Pavilion, 236 Main Street, Somers. Portable sanitized restrooms available for outdoor concerts and indoor restrooms for indoor concerts. Plenty of parking available. Accessible seating available. If feeling ill, kindly stay home.

Stop by the Pease Bees booth for something truly extraordinary — a live beehive on display! Get up close, marvel at the incredible world inside, and see if you can spot the queen. Find her and you might just win a prize! 🐝
Manchester Pollinator Pathway will be on hand to share everything you need to know about protecting and supporting native pollinators right in your own backyard. Whether you have a sprawling garden or a single window box, there is something you can do — and they will show you how.
And keeping the whole morning buzzing with beautiful sound will be the incredibly talented Grass Routes — a Connecticut five-piece bluegrass band that has been delighting audiences with bluegrass, folk, and contemporary music since 1980.
All of this alongside our wonderful 50+ regular vendors, the freshest summer produce of the season, Kids Power of Produce Club, and SNAP and FMNP doubling at the market booth.
