CT Parachutist Still Jumping

The organization recently celebrated its 50th anniversary as a club and shared some of its video footage of a recent jump to show that skydiving isn't just for adrenaline junkies.

CT Parachutist, based out of , recently  as a club and did it in style.

The group held four days of festivities at Ellington Airport to celebrate the milestone.

A 50-person skydiving formation was attempted on two separate days, and had it been successful, the formation would have broken the Connecticut state record.

Although the state record is 41 skydivers in one formation, and the group was able to complete a 48-person formation, technicalities prevented them from officially claiming the new record, as the club had submitted a 50-diver plan to the U.S. Parachute Association.

Mike Haas, a tandem instructor at CT Parachutist, says that while being an adrenaline junky may originally bring in a skydiver, it isn't necessarily what keeps them jumping.

The organization acts as a club, where people become friends and enjoy the social interaction, barbeques and other functions, as well as the skydiving.
