Doggie Detailing

Humans are such an entertaining species. There are so many things you do that defy canine explanation. I still don’t fully comprehend the idea of watching the picture box. There’s no scent, only sound and sight. (I’m beginning to believe that those other humans on the picture box aren’t real.)

But one thing that I and my fellow canines do understand is your desire to leave the yard and wander. I mean, marking new territory is one of the best feelings in the world. And all the new scents and things to chase are just so…

I digress.

Of course, when you humans wander out of the yard, you get into the big cage with wheels. And I’ve come to understand that the big cage is something you like to take care of.

You humans spend lots of rewards (no term for ‘money’ in canine language. Sorry) on grooming your cage. You call it ‘Detailing.’ Wanting your cage clean is perfectly understandable. After all, it’s been out since Spring, and you want to get it ready for the cold months ahead.

But what about us, your Best Friends. Your Loving Companions. Don’t we canines also deserve ‘Detailing?’

A visit to the groomer helps promote a healthy coat and reduces the chance of fleas and ticks. It also reduces shedding in some breeds.

We canines should be ‘Detailed’ twice a year; once before cold weather, to get rid of all the dirt and muck we get in our coat after having spent long periods outdoors, and again after Winter, to eliminate the dander brought on by being inside. An occasional bath is okay too, if we get really dirty, and regular brushing to get rid of the extra fur, before it ends up all over the couch.

Humans, please. Do us and yourselves a favor. Get your Doggie Detailed just as you would the big cage. We’ll be ever thankful.
