Ellington High School Junior Joins Patriotic Committee
The Ellington Patriotic Committee announces its first member of the newly-instituted Youth Associate Council

Daniel Joy, a junior at Ellington High School, has been appointed by the Board of Selectmen to serve on the Ellington Patriotic Committee as its first member of the committee’s Youth Associate Council.
The Youth Associate Council is a program designed for youth, ages 14-17, to have a voice in, and provide assistance with, the various activities and projects that the Patriotic Committee is involved in.
The program was initiated by members of the Patriotic Committee in order to “provide a public platform where our young people can voice their opinions and ideas. They have much to say,” stated Wilson Flynn, chairman of the Patriotic Committee.

“This program connects these future leaders with those of us willing to listen.” Mr. Joy will be assisting the other members of the committee in the organization of Ellington’s Memorial Day observance and parade, as well as the annual Wreaths Across America program. “This has been a dream come true,” stated one member. “Our hope is that other young people, and their parents, will follow Mr. Joy’s lead and become involved in what we do.”
When Daniel turns 18, he will be eligible to become a full voting member of the Patriotic Committee.
