Ellington Lists New Appointments, Upcoming Vacancies

Several vacancies and expiring terms are expected to be considered by the Board of Selectmen in July.

ELLINGTON, CT β€” Ellington officials announced several recent appointments and reappointments to town boards and committees, while also listing current vacancies and upcoming expiring terms.

Steven Viens was appointed to the Board of Education to complete an unexpired term ending Nov. 6, 2029, according to a town press release.

The town also appointed Eugene LeDuc as an alternate to the Inland Wetlands Agency to complete an unexpired term ending Jan. 31, 2028. Gary Blanchette was appointed to the Shared Services Commission to complete an unexpired term ending Oct. 31, 2027.

Marc Diwinsky was reappointed to the Community Voice Channel Board of Directors for a two-year term through June 2028, and Amos Smith was reappointed to the Housing Authority for a five-year term through June 2031.

Town officials also listed several board and committee vacancies or expiring terms expected to be considered at the July 13 Board of Selectmen meeting.

The Human Services Commission has one vacancy for a term ending Jan. 31, 2030. The Insurance Advisory Board has two vacancies, with terms ending April 30, 2027, and April 30, 2029. The Patriotic Committee has two vacancies for terms ending Dec. 31, 2026, and the Trails Committee has one vacancy for a term ending April 30, 2027.

The Economic Development Commission has two terms ending July 31, 2026, currently held by D. Hurley and C. Soto. The town noted that individuals listed with expiring terms may be considered for reappointment.

The Committee on Diversity & Inclusion and the Council for Developing Positive Youth Culture are also looking for new members, according to the town.
