Ellington Man Steals $65,000 Heirloom Violin From Mom: Warrant

The man is facing several larceny charges, state police said.

ELLINGTON, CT — A 23 -year-old Ellington man stole a vintage heirloom violin worth $65,000 from his mother, according to a warrant outlining a first-degree larceny case.

Michael Devaughn Porter, 23, of Florence Avenue, is charged with first-degree larceny and larceny in the fifth and sixth degrees as well, state police said. He is also charged with credit card theft and the illegal use of a credit card, according to the warrant.

The violin was made in the 1800s and was made in Germany, according to an arrest warrant. He also took diamonds and made illegal charges using his mother's accounts, according to the warrant.

A friend told police he has a drug habit, according to the warrant.
