Ellington Returning to Volleyball Finals After 33 Years
The Knights handily defeated East Haven to advance to Saturday's Class M championship match.

The last time Ellington High School played in the girls volleyball finals, Ronald Reagan was president, Cal Ripken was a rookie and this reporter was a long-haired high school senior.
Thirty-three years later, the Knights will play for a state title Saturday after defeating sixth-seeded East Haven 3-1 in the Class M semifinals Wednesday night in Plainville.
Game scores were 25-18, 18-25, 25-18 and 25-14.

Ellington, seeded seventh, will play for its first championship against No. 4 Waterford, which bumped off top-seeded Woodland Regional by a 3-0 score.
First serve is set for 1 p.m. Saturday at Berlin High School.
