Ellington, Somers Experience Success at State Cross Country Championships

MANCHESTER, CT — Ellington and Somers high schools will both be represented at the State Open cross country championships this Friday.

Both the girls and boys teams from Ellington qualified by virtue of their showing Saturday at the CIAC class meets at Wickham Park.

The girls compiled 98 points to place second to six-time champion Tolland in Class M, while the boys placed third, just a point behind East Catholic. Each squad placed five runners in the top 40.

Somers had four runners finish in the top 30 in the Class SS races, with Ava Roche qualifying for the State Open as an individual.
