Ellington Superintendent, Assistant Rewarded For Outstanding Work
Both were cited for leading the district through the ongoing challenges presented by the global coronavirus pandemic.

ELLINGTON, CT — Superintendent of Schools Scott Nicol and assistant superintendent Brian Hendricksen have been rewarded for their outstanding efforts with pay raises and, in Nicol's case, a contract extension.
The Ellington Board of Education voted unanimously to approve a 1.9 percent increase in pay for Nicol, bumping him to an annual salary of $184,651, and also extended his contract through the 2022-23 academic year. Hendricksen also received a 1.9 percent raise, to an annual salary of $167,003.
Board of Education chairman Michael Purcaro said, "We are sensitive to the fact that people are struggling to survive and earn a living because of the pandemic and that there is uncertainty in the level of funding that we can count on from the State and Federal government. Therefore, we felt that it was fiscally prudent for us to take appropriate action on these contracts and future contracts that sends a clear message to our community that we hear your concerns and are responding accordingly."
