Ellington: Your 2014 Midterm Election Results

Here's how Ellington voted in Tuesday's election.

The results are in and while Gov. Dannel P. Malloy won reelection ( officially on Wednesday), the majority of Ellington voters cast their ballots in favor of challenger Tom Foley.

In Ellington, Foley received 3,422 votes to Malloy’s 2,158.

In the Second U.S. Congressional District, incumbent Democrat Joe Courtney defeated Republican Lori Hopkins-Cavanagh and Green Party candidate. William C. Clyde and Libertarian Party candidate Daniel Reale.

The overall vote was 145,001 for Courtney, while Hopkins-Cavanagh received 80,911 votes and Clyde had 2,515 and Reale received 2,361.

In Ellington, the vote was as follows: Courtney 3,030; Hopkins-Cavanagh 2,389; Clyde 41; and Reale 64.

In the Third District State Senate race, Democrat Timothy D. Larson defeated Republican Sean Kelly 17,474 to 11,289.

Kelly, however, won the vote in Ellington 2,247 to 1,934.

In the 35th State Senate District, incumbent Republican Tony Guglielmo defeated Working Families Party candidate Andrea Penta 25,547 to 5,311.

In Ellington, Guglielmo received 972 votes and Penta had 150.

For the 57th District of the State House of Representatives (which covers East Windsor and Ellington), incumbent Republican Christopher Davis defeated Democrat Noele Kidney 5,358 to 2,819.

In Ellington, the vote was 3,551 to 2,015 in favor of Davis.

The state constitutional amendment question appeared to have failed (final numbers weren’t in as of Wednesday night), and the majority of voters in Ellington agreed with 3,002 No votes, to 2,305 Yes votes.
