The Glastonbury Ukulele Band will be performing August 18th from 10-12 at the Ellington Farmers Market.
The Glastonbury Ukulele Band consists of “ukers” from Glastonbury and surrounding towns. Led by Dr. Jim Rosokoff (AKA "Dr. Uke"), a retired Glastonbury dermatologist, they perform throughout Connecticut. They play popular songs from many eras . Audiences have enjoyed singing along to typical ukulele fare like “You Are My Sunshine” and “Five Foot Two.” Other songs are less readily associated with the ukulele, such as “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes,” “Why Do Fools Fall In Love,” and “Who Put the Bomp (in the Bomp-Ba-Bomp-Ba-Bomp).” Many genres of music are "on the table" for the band, including jazz, folk, rock, Elvis, Beatles, show tunes, and even Yiddish songs.
