The Northern Connecticut Radio Control Club will hold a WWI Giant Scale Fly In on July 10, 2011 at the NCRCC Flying Field in Ellington.
The event is a gathering of historically accurate Giant Scale aircraft flown during WWI. These airplanes are controlled remotely by club members. The planes are 1/4 the size of the real airplanes, and sometimes 1/3 the size of a real airplane. This could mean wingspans of 12 feet and weights of over 30 pounds. Most of the airplanes are biplanes and some triplanes. The event is open to the public and is free admission and free parking. Food will be sold.
Kids of all ages are thrilled to see these giant scale aircraft flying around the field and unless weather conditions are extrememly windy, there will be airplanes flying constantly throughout the day.
