Farm Worker in Ellington Hurt After Being Hit in Head by Cow

A farm worker in Ellington was hurt after being hit by a cow early Thursday morning.

ELLINGTON, CT — A farm worker was hurt after being hit in the head by a cow Thursday morning, according to authorities and dispatch reports.

The accident was at the Oakridge Dairy farm complex, 786 Jobs Hill Road, and was called in at 4:43 a.m., according to state police. The man is 23 and is an experienced staffer, according to authorities.

State police said the worker was kicked in the face by a cow. Farm officials told Fox61 the worker was in the maternity area of the farm and he might have a broken jaw. The worker was taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield via Life Star helicopter.

Oakridge has about 2,400 cows and Guida's is a major customer for the milk. In June 2017, the farm finished a massive expansion project featuring state-of-the-art equipment.
