Fatal Truck Crash Closes Main Street in Somers
A fatal truck crash forced state police to close part of Main Street in Somers on Thursday.
SOMERS CT — A section of Route 190 was closed at lunchtime Thursday as state police were investigating a fatal crash involving a tractor-trailer, police said.
The crash took place at 12:09 p.m. near 794 Main St., the local name for that section of Route 190.
The truck went through a guardrail and hit several trees and a utility pole, authorities said.

The road was closed between Turnpike Road and Battle Road for some time, police said.
Eastbound traffic from Route 190 was being sent down Wells Road. Westbound cars were being detoured to Gulf Road or Turnpike Road.

State police identified the driver as 42-year-old Chad Mason of Stafford. He was pronounced dead at the scene, state police said.
The truck was heading west, state police said. It was registered out of Monson, MA, state police said.
